On the corner of Fruitvale avenue and Foothill, at the edge of the AutoParts parking lot you’ll find a bulletin board that appears heavily used by the local community. Homemade fliers, mostly written in Spanish, advertise domestic services such as housecleaning, childcare and freelance mechanics. Other postings show local apartments for rent and even more offer Quinceñera supplies -jumping castles and ball gowns. This micro-resource seems to be heavily utilized, most likely by those without internet access and/or those who have recently arrived in the area. Adjacent to the bulletin board kiosk, on the side of the AutoParts store, is a well known pick up spot for day laborers. In the few minutes I spent observing the kiosk many of these workers came by to check up on any new postings, perhaps in search of housing or potential work.
